WASHINGTON - CAAFI is a coalition that promotes development and deployment of alternative jet fuels that sustainably reduce lifecycle carbon emissions and local pollution around airports, improve energy security, minimize fuel price volatility, and enhance rural economic development. In addition to the FAA, CAAFI’s sponsors include Airlines for America (A4A), the Airports Council International-North America (ACI-NA), and the Aerospace Industries Association (AIA).To date, the work of CAAFI, the FAA, and other initiative members has resulted in the approval for use of five new alternative aviation fuels. A key goal of these fuels is to ensure that they are “drop-in fuels," meaning their use on current aircraft engines systems requires no changes or modifications. This year is CAAFI’s 10-year anniversary. The meeting will celebrate the progress made in the last decade and highlight the success of the aviation industry in beginning to deploy sustainable alternative jet fuels.
