WASHINGTON -President Barack Obama announced today that his administration would create a program to assist clean energy development in Native American and Alaska Native communities
Following that announcement, Rep. Ed Markey (D-Mass.), a leader in pushing for more clean energy in America and the top Democrat on the Natural Resources Committee, which has jurisdiction over Native American affairs, issued the following statement:
"No other energy is more native than the wind, the sun, and the other forces of nature. At a time of high unemployment, especially in Indian Country, this new program will help harness our cleanest forms of energy to create jobs and reduce pollution."
