Grijalva on the Postponement of the Puerto Rico Bill Markup

The following press release was published by the House Committee on Natural Resources on April 13, 2016. It is reproduced in full below.

Washington, D.C. - Ranking Member Raúl M. Grijalva (D-Ariz.) released the following statement after Chairman Rob Bishop (R-Utah) and the Committee elected to postpone the markup on H.R. 4900 : The Puerto Rico Oversight, Management, and Economic Stability Act.

“The Chairman and I elected to postpone the markup on Puerto Rico and keep working on the bill," Grijalva said. “This is too important to rush through and make a mistake. The legislation continues to be a work in progress, with all sides working hard to find a viable path forward. I am hopeful that we can reach a consensus that will ultimately end this humanitarian crisis and allow families living on the island to thrive."
