Bishop Statement on Decision to Reinstate Reckless Obama-era Energy Ban

The following press release was published by the House Committee on Natural Resources on April 1, 2019. It is reproduced in full below.

WASHINGTON, D.C. - Today, House Natural Resources Committee Ranking Republican Rob Bishop (R-Utah) issued the following statement on the U.S. District Court decision to reverse President Trump’s order revoking the Obama administration’s sweeping ban on oiland gas drilling in the Arctic and Atlantic oceans.

“The decision late Friday to reinstate reckless Obama-era energy policies has now made 128 million acres of federal waters off limits to responsible energy exploration. Preventing the development of these domestic resources only increases our nation’s dependence on foreign oil and takes billions in Federal revenues off the table. I applaud the steps the Trump administration has taken to unravel executive abuses of the prior administration and to support robust domestic energy production. Ultimately the law will prevail here and this will be overturned."
