U.S. Environmental Protection Agency Administrator Michael Regan recently acknowledged the organization's "A+" rating on the Fiscal Year 2021 Small Business Procurement Scorecard.
According to an Aug. 5 EPA news release, Regan thanked the Office of Small and Disadvantaged Business Utilization and the entire acquisition workforce for their combined efforts.
“I am so proud of the hardworking teams that made this award possible and even more proud of our long-standing record of support for our small businesses, which are the heart and soul of our nation’s economy,” Regan said in the release. “I know we will remain relentless in our commitment to supporting small businesses as they continue to grow, innovate and create generational wealth and sustainable communities across our country."
According to the release, the EPA has received a "A" on the scorecard for 13 consecutive years. The EPA scored 122.56% overall, higher than the government's overall score of 109.58%.
The EPA awarded small businesses 44.52% of its procurement dollars in FY 2021, an increase of $89 million from the small business awards the EPA funded in FY 2020 and more than double the government's overall small business goal, the release reported.
The release states that every year since 2007, the annual Small Business Procurement Scorecard by the EPA measures the federal agency's achievement on its goals for small and socioeconomic business prime contracting and subcontracting.
