Northwest Oregon: Celebrate National Public Lands Day at the West Eugene Wetlands

The following press releases was published by the U.S. Department of the Interior, Bureau of Land Management on Sept. 15, 2017. It is reproduced in full below.

Eugene, Ore. - Volunteers are invited to join the Bureau of Land Management and Wetlands Resources and Educational Network (WREN) for a National Public Lands Day event at the West Eugene Wetlands on Saturday, Sept. 30. The all-ages event will be one of many offered across the country that day to celebrate service in our nation’s treasured public lands. As stewards, the BLM manages public lands for the benefit of current and future generations, supporting conservation as we pursue our multiple-use mission.

The event will take place from 9 a.m. to noon at Bertelsen Nature Park. Volunteers will assist with trash collection and vegetation removal in the Stewart Pond area, as well as planting and spreading mulch at the Wetland Partnership Office - also known as the Red House.

Participants should meet at the parking area for the Stewart Pond Disc Golf Course, located across from 3888 Stewart Road. Please wear outdoor-appropriate clothing and footwear; gloves and tools will be provided.

For more information and to RSVP, please contact Amelia Rhodewalt at (541) 683-6600 or arhodewalt@blm.gov.
