Democrats are ramping up scrutiny of lower- and middle- income earners with higher audits, despite a clear need for greater taxpayer customer service and a long history of targeting at the IRS, Ways and Means Republican Leader Rep. Kevin Brady (R-TX) warned on “Just the News, Not Noise” with investigative journalists John Solomon and cohost Amanda Head.

The Joint Committee on Taxation confirms Democrats will collect billions from the middle-class in higher audits.
“The Joint Committee on Taxation is the independent scorekeeper that tells Congress and policymakers what the impacts of these taxes and spending are.
“And they are very clear: this so-called ‘Inflation Reduction Act,’ now called the ‘climate bill,’ is going to raise taxes on middle class families.
“It’s going to hire up to 87,000 new IRS agents targeted mainly at what I would call value shoppers – the neighbors I see in Target, Walmart, Marshalls, and Ross, where every penny really matters.”
Democrats fueled inflation that’s crushing families and now are going after them with 710,000 new IRS audits each year.
“They believe too, that there’ll be no reduction in inflation from this bill. In fact, there’s a good chance it’ll continue to rise as a result of it next year. American working families who are already being crushed with inflation and fuel costs, and who worry most about losing their job, now are going to face tax hikes and an army of IRS agents.
“In fact, it’s estimated that those value shoppers, those middle class workers, will see an additional 710,000 new audits each year as a result of this bill.
“Why in heaven’s name is Joe Biden and his White House harassing the working class families that they’ve most damaged since they’ve gone to the White House?”

American families and workers continue to struggle under President Biden’s cruel economy.
“Democrats have a one-party rule so voters know exactly why they’re in this very cruel economy. For them, it just seems like the hits keep coming. Their paychecks can’t get ahead of inflation.
“They’ve got these IRS audits, and the President is going to force working families to pay off the student loans of psychologists, physician assistants, and computer scientists.
“It seems like the little guy just keeps getting hit over and over by this White House.”

Democrats are supercharging the IRS despite a long history of abuses.
“The IRS as you know, during the Lois Lerner years, went through three very corrupt administrators of the IRS. It was proven they were targeting Americans based on their political belief. It was a dangerous weapon to hold.
“Now we know last year a record number – we think tens of thousands – of private taxpayer returns were leaked to ProPublica. There’s no answer yet on that.
“And we just saw last week, the IRS had posted private information for 11 months on their website, so people could see additional private information. The thought that you’re going to hand that organization more of the power to destroy lives and small businesses is very dangerous.”

Democrats’ IRS prioritizes higher audits on the middle class, despite a clear need for greater taxpayer customer service.
“In the Ways and Means Committee that I lead for the Republicans, we have jurisdiction over the IRS. For years, we would meet with the IRS to talk about customer service. By the way, right now there’s still 8 million Americans who haven’t got their tax returns from this past year.
“The IRS would tell us privately they believe that the tax cheats are our farmers and ranchers, small businesses, and independent contractors. We never agreed with that. But they’ve always pursued that.
“That’s why last year, they tried to put in place that $600 bank surveillance scheme that any transaction or account would be reported to the IRS. They couldn’t get that – that was Plan A. Plan B to target those farmers, families, small businesses is this army of IRS agents.
“At the end of the day, that’s been their target now for decades. Unfortunately, those are the Americans who will get hammered the most by this.”
