The following press release was published by the U.S. Department of the Interior, National Park Service on June 4, 2013. It is reproduced in full below.

The National Park Service Southeast Utah Group is now accepting applications for the 2014 Community Artist in the Parks (CAIP) Program.

Created in 2009, the CAIP program highlights the connection between a local artist and the surrounding landscape, particularly Arches and Canyonlands National Parks and Hovenweep and Natural Bridges National Monuments.

The Community Artist creates work within the participating National Park Service units during a minimum of six visits per month, April through November, and shares his/her inspiration and creative process with visitors from around the world. The artist's work may be sold in the Arches and Canyonlands National Park bookstores.

Artists must be residents of Grand or San Juan Counties.

Program details, short videos by former community artists, and more application information are on the Arches website. Applications must be received by July 31st, 2013.
