The following press release was published by the U.S. Department of the Interior, National Park Service on June 24, 2013. It is reproduced in full below.

There will be a program on "Black Bears in Big South Fork" at the Big South Fork National River and Recreation Area's Bandy Creek Visitor Center on Saturday, July 6, at 10:00 a.m. (EDT). This program about black bears will be held on the back porch of the Visitor Center.

People of all ages can learn how to keep safe in bear habitat and gain an understanding of how human behavior can impact bear behavior. Visitors will learn what to do if they see a black bear, how to store food at a camp site, and how to keep safe in the backcountry.
