Body of suicide victim recovered near Longmire

The following press release was published by the U.S. Department of the Interior, National Park Service on June 28, 2013. It is reproduced in full below.

At 2:30 p.m. on Thursday, June 27, 2012, visitors at Mount Rainier National Park reported seeing a body lying near the Wonderland Trail north of Longmire, near the Rampart Ridge Trail. Rangers responded and determined that the individual, a 58-year-old man, was deceased, and a victim of suicide. He has been identified as Robert J. Congelli of Kent, Washington, who had been absent since Wednesday and whose wife had reported him missing Thursday morning. Congelli's body was transported to the Pierce County Medical Examiner Thursday evening.
