Community- and Facility-Scale Tribal Renewable Energy Project Workshop to be Held in September

The following press release was published by the U.S. Dept. of Energy, Office of Indian Energy Policy and Programs on July 24, 2013. It is reproduced in full below.

The U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) Office of Indian Energy and Office of Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy's Tribal Energy Program are pleased to present an interactive workshop from September 18-20 in Denver, Colorado, designed to walk tribal leaders and staff through the five steps of developing and financing community- and facility-scale projects on tribal lands.

The workshop is part of the Office of Indian Energy’s one-of-a-kind renewable energy development education and training curriculum created with support from DOE's National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL) to help Tribes better understand the process for developing tribal renewable energy projects.

This workshop is specifically designed for, and limited to, elected tribal leaders, tribal executives, and tribal staff interested in gaining knowledge and confidence to develop community- and facility-scale renewable energy projects. Attendees will learn how the development of a renewable energy project could further a Tribe’s goals, and hear from other Tribes about their experiences. A more detailed agenda will be available in the coming weeks on the workshop event listing page.

The workshop will be held at NREL in Denver, Colorado. There is no cost to attend, but participants will be responsible for their own lodging, meals, and travel costs. Eligible attendees must RSVP by August 30 to kara.thate@nrel.gov. Any questions can be sent to indianenergy@hq.doe.gov.

This workshop is part of a series of in-person trainings offered as part of the DOE Office of Indian Energy’s educational curriculum. Read about the July 9-11 commercial-scale project development and financing workshop in our blog. The curriculum is also offered for free via on-demand webinars on the National Training & Education Resource website.
