The Energy Department will present a live webinar titled "Jobs and Economic Development Impacts of Offshore Wind" on Wednesday, Nov. 20, from 3:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. Eastern Standard Time. More than a year ago, the National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL) initiated work to expand the Jobs and Economic Development Impacts (JEDI) model to include fixed-bottom offshore wind technology. Following the model’s completion (and in partnership with the Energy Department’s Wind Program, Illinois State University, and James Madison University), NREL supported the analysis of the regional jobs and economic impacts of offshore wind for the Great Lakes, Mid-Atlantic, Southeast, and Gulf Coast regions. This webinar will provide an overview of the new offshore wind JEDI model and review the four completed assessments.

The Energy Department will present a live webinar titled “Tools for Designing and Implementing Better Clean Energy Financing Programs" on Thursday, Nov. 21, from 3:30 p.m. to 4:45 p.m. Eastern Standard Time. Rather than selecting from two or three fixed models, a successful clean energy finance program requires a sponsor to make a number of design decisions based on available resources and the needs of the community served. This webinar will outline these key areas for consideration - including potential program sponsors, institutional structure, and potential sources of program revenue - and provide examples of how organizations across the country have blended design decisions into successful programs.

November 27: Webinar on Available Resources for Tribal Energy Project Development

The U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) Office of Indian Energy, EERE’s Tribal Energy Program, and the Western Area Power Administration will present the next Tribal Renewable Energy Series webinar titled "Resources Available for Tribal Energy Project Development" on Wednesday, Nov. 27, from 1:00 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. Eastern Standard Time. Attendees will learn about the “go-to" resources available through the Energy Department and other federal, state, and local offices that tribes can utilize to help bring an energy project online. The presentations will cover resources from EERE’s Tribal Energy Program, Strategic Technical Assistance Response Team (START) Programs, Tribal Energy Education Programs, and Tribal Leader and Best Practices Forums, among other resources. The attendees will also learn about the latest developments in DOE’s renewable energy education curriculum for tribes, which is delivered via an online training platform.

The Energy Department will present a live webinar titled “Introduction to Pre-engineered Metal Building Envelope Commissioning" on Wednesday, Dec. 18, from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. Eastern Standard Time. The metal building industry produces more than 50% of all new low-rise nonresidential construction in the United States. These buildings serve many different commercial, industrial, institutional, and educational purposes. The webinar will offer participants an introduction to pre-engineered metal building envelope commissioning, stakeholders and participants, current guidelines and standards related to commissioning, and envelope-specific commissioning tests. The information in this webinar will also be widely applicable to other low-rise commercial building uses.
