Secretary of State Antony J. Blinken spoke with Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba about maintaining strong security and economic ties as the first anniversary of Russia’s unprovoked attack on Ukraine approaches.
Blinken emphasized the United States' strong support for Ukraine, including recent additional security aid to assist in defending against Russian aggression, according to a Feb. 7 news release.
“Spoke today with @DmytroKuleba about our ongoing robust support for Ukraine as they keep fighting for their freedom nearly one year after Russia launched its full-scale invasion. The United States will continue this support for as long as it takes,” Blinken said in a post on Twitter.
Ukraine President Volodymyr Zelenskyy met with United Kingdom Prime Minister Rishi Sunak in London Feb. 8. He thanked the British people and Sunak for their support in countering Russian aggression and said the UK is a reliable partner and friend who is a world leader in supporting Ukraine, according to a presidential release.
Despite being in the midst of conflict, Ukraine managed to send resources to Turkey after a recent earthquake, Zelensky said in a Feb. 7 speech. Ukrainian rescuers have departed to assist in the rescue efforts.
“I spoke with the President of Türkiye Erdoğan. I expressed my condolences. I told him about our steps to help the people of Türkiye pull through this ordeal,” Zelenskyy in his speech.
