Rodgers, Johnson Announce Environment, Manufacturing, and Critical Materials Subcommittee Markup on Seven Bills

The following press release was published by the House Committee on Energy and Commerce on Feb. 24. It is reproduced in full below.

Washington, D.C. - House Energy and Commerce Committee Cathy Rodgers (R-WA) and Environment, Manufacturing, and Critical Materials Subcommittee Chair Bill Johnson (R-OH) today announced a subcommittee markup on seven bills.

“President Biden’s war on American energy is forcing the U.S. into a dangerous future where we are dependent on Chinese supply chains for critical minerals needed for batteries and advanced energy technologies. If the U.S. is to expand its energy portfolio to include more of these kinds of technologies, it is critical for our energy security that we secure our critical mineral supply chains and reduce our reliance on China. That starts by unleashing our own critical mineral supply right here at home, which we can while continuing to reduce emissions and maintaining some of the highest environmental standards in the world.

“Several of these bills also aim to lower energy prices for American families and businesses. By repealing the costly natural gas tax and protecting American refining capacity, these bills will work to bring down the skyrocketing prices Americans have seen at the pump and in the electricity bills in the last two years.

“We look forward to marking up these bills in the Environment, Manufacturing, and Critical Materials Subcommittee to ensure the U.S. continues to lead in both environmental protection and energy production and innovation, and also lower energy costs for Americans."
