Contracting officials: Learn how AbilityOne products and services can support the Coast Guard

Did you know that the AbilityOne community partners with Boeing to make more than 7,000 products?  Or that the program, which is one of the largest sources of employment for people with significant disabilities, also makes uniforms and other equipment for many military branches?

If you didn’t, and you happen to be a contracting officer (KO), contracting officer’s representative (COR), storekeeper (SK), purchase card holder, or a program office with the Coast Guard, you might want to sign up to attend a virtual conference to be held on March 9 and March 30. The two-day “Reverse Industry Day” event will detail the capabilities available through the AbilityOne Network, which is made up of 450 non-profit agencies that provide the federal government with products and services at fair market prices.

The industry days will focus on various lines of business offered by AbilityOne, a program that has a priority under the Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) as a government supplier. These lines include the manufacturing and machining capabilities Boeing uses, as well as clothing/textiles, information technology, and other options.

Participants can ask questions to gain a better understanding of the possibilities. You will also learn how AbilityOne supports various federal customers on their requirements, and AbilityOne employees who work on existing Coast Guard requirements will provide mission moments.

Rear Adm. Douglas M. Schofield, Coast Guard Assistant Commandant for Acquisition and Chief Acquisition Officer, will make opening remarks. Continuous learning points will be provided by the Coast Guard. Sessions are virtual and you will be able to access the event via your browser (no software download required).

The sessions will run from noon to 4:30 p.m., Eastern on both days. For detailed schedules see the CG-9 Portal. There are two separate registration links, so make sure to register for both events, using the links below:
