President Joe Biden's National Cybersecurity Strategy was released March 2.

U.S. Department of Homeland Security wants to strengthen the country's cybersecurity resilience, as addition to investigating malicious cyber activity, according to a DHS news release.

"This National Cybersecurity Strategy establishes a clear vision for a secure cyberspace," DHS Secretary Alejandro N. Mayorkas said in the release. "The Department of Homeland Security continuously evolves to counter emerging threats and protect Americans in our modern world."

DHS will work with partners worldwide to implement the administration's strategy, Mayorkas said in the release.

"We will implement the president's vision outlined in this strategy, working with partners across sectors and around the globe to provide cybersecurity tools and resources, protect critical infrastructure, respond to and recover from cyber incidents and pave the way for a more secure future," he added, according to the release.

Some of the strategies involved include "empowering the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency to bolster its work to defend Federal Civilian Executive Branch systems and modernize our networks," the release reported. It also calls for Congress to codify the DHS Cyber Safety Review Board which allows leaders to conduct fact-finding and issue recommendations after significant cyber incidents.

DHS will also continue disrupting ransomware actors, with the assistance of U.S. Secret Service and U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement, according to the release. Since CISA is co-chair of the Join Ransomware Task Force, these efforts will increase the resilience of the nation's critical infrastructure from attacks.

CISA will also lead the update to the National Cyber Incident Response Plan, which will clarify matters across the federal incident response landscape, the release said.

The strategy also includes "underscoring the value of operational public-private sector collaboration and the successes of targeted and calibrated regulatory approaches like those that the Transportation Security Administration and US Coast Guard are planning to leverage to protect the transportation sector," the release reported.
