Hudson Institute China Center Director Miles Yu said the U.S., Japan, and Australia have allied with the Phillippines and conducted joint naval exercises despite "China’s bullying of the Philippines."
"China’s bullying of the Philippines not only did not stop the Philippines from a list of certain sovereign rights of the maritime and island terrains, which is basically supported by international law," Yu said on a recent edition of the China Insider Podcast. "But also add Japan to the Filipino alliance, Japan is getting closer to the Philippines, we know that."
"Not only that, the United States and Australia have also joined the alliance with the Philippines just last week, right after Japan reached out to the Philippians to have negotiations about troop deployment," Yu said. "U.S., Japan, Australia, and the Filipino navies hosted a first ever joint naval exercise on Sunday, April 7."
The April 9 episode of the podcast focused on the impact of the recent 7.4 magnitude earthquake in Taiwan, as well as security development in the South China Sea.
