U.S. Attorney Roger B. Handberg | U.S. Department of Justice
Jacksonville, FL – Robert David Gulledge, aged 59, from Jacksonville, has pleaded guilty to making a false statement to a federal agency. This announcement was made by United States Attorney Roger B. Handberg. Gulledge could face up to five years in federal prison, though a sentencing date has not been set.
Court documents reveal that Gulledge created a fake Form DD-214 military discharge document containing false claims about his service in the United States Marine Corps. The falsifications included military positions he did not hold and awards he did not receive. In 2009, Gulledge first used this fraudulent form to secure an Intelligence Analyst position on a government contract. He repeated this action for two other government contract positions in 2017 and 2023. Additionally, he submitted the false form when appealing a denial of a Veterans Affairs disability claim.
The investigation was conducted by the U.S. Department of State – Diplomatic Security Service (DSS) Office of Special Investigations, the Department of Veterans Affairs - Office of Inspector General, and the Defense Criminal Investigative Service. Assistant United States Attorney Kelly S. Milliron is prosecuting the case.
