Huntington man pleads guilty to federal drug charges

Curtis Lavall Capers, a 35-year-old resident of Huntington, West Virginia, has entered a guilty plea for distributing fentanyl and methamphetamine. This admission was made in court today.

Court documents reveal that on December 15, 2022, Capers sold the drugs to a confidential informant at a residence on 7th Avenue in Huntington. He confessed to orchestrating the sale with the informant beforehand.

Capers is scheduled for sentencing on May 12, 2025. He faces a potential sentence of up to 20 years in prison, along with at least three years of supervised release and a fine reaching $1 million.

The announcement was made by United States Attorney Will Thompson, who praised the investigative efforts of the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI).

United States District Judge Robert C. Chambers presided over the proceedings. The case is being prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Joseph F. Adams.
