Alexander M.M. Uballez U.S. Attorney | U.S. Attorney for the District of New Mexico
A Roswell resident has been charged with federal firearms and drug trafficking offenses following a recent traffic stop. On February 4, 2025, officers from the Roswell Police Department pulled over a vehicle for speeding. The driver was identified as Isaac Ivan Boccelli, aged 36, who was accompanied by two juveniles aged 12 and 14.
During the search of the vehicle, authorities discovered two firearms—one concealed on a juvenile and another in the vehicle—as well as 396.5 grams of suspected methamphetamine and 147.0 grams of suspected fentanyl. Due to previous convictions for second-degree murder and battery upon a peace officer, Boccelli was prohibited from possessing firearms.
Boccelli is currently in custody awaiting trial, which has yet to be scheduled. If convicted, he could face up to 40 years in prison.
U.S. Attorney Alexander M.M. Uballez and Brendan Iber, Special Agent in Charge of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF), announced the charges. The ATF led the investigation with assistance from the Roswell Police Department. Assistant U.S. Attorney Devon Aragon Martinez is handling the prosecution.
