A Mexican national, Rodrigo Valdovinos-Hernandez, has been sentenced for reentering the United States illegally after previous deportations. The sentencing was handed down by United States District Judge Jennifer A. Dorsey in Las Vegas.

Court documents reveal that Valdovinos-Hernandez, also known as "Rodrigo Tejada-Valdovinos" and "Rodrigo Valdovinos," is a 38-year-old citizen of Mexico. He was discovered by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) officials in Las Vegas on May 25, 2023, following his arrest by the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department on state charges. He had been deported twice before, in September 2009 and November 2012.

Valdovinos-Hernandez has spent approximately 18 months in federal custody and was sentenced to time served. This marks his third felony conviction while unlawfully present in the U.S., with prior convictions for attempt burglary and possession of a stolen vehicle in Clark County, Nevada.

He pleaded guilty to one count of being a deported alien found in the United States. Acting United States Attorney Sue Fahami for the District of Nevada and Salt Lake City Field Office Director Michael Bernacke announced the sentence.

The case was investigated by ICE's Salt Lake City, Las Vegas Sub-Office and prosecuted by the United States Attorney’s Office for the District of Nevada.
