This week, the Center for Democracy & Technology (CDT) joined 20 civil society organizations in urging Director of National Intelligence (DNI) Tulsi Gabbard to enhance transparency in national security surveillance. The groups are calling for specific measures to be taken by DNI Gabbard.

The coalition is asking for the declassification of a FISA Court opinion that has sparked debate over an expansion to FISA's definition of "Electronic Communication Service Providers." Additionally, they seek an estimate of how many Americans have their communications collected under FISA Section 702, which allows warrantless surveillance.
