Kenneth Genalo Acting Deputy Director | U.S. Immigration And Customs Enforcement
U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) has deported Amal Said, a Pakistani national convicted of international drug trafficking, back to Pakistan on March 5. The action follows a final order of removal.
"The extradition, conviction and removal of Amal Said demonstrates the collaborative, whole of government approach that ICE supports in protecting the citizens of the U.S.," stated Brian McShane, acting Field Office Director for ICE Enforcement and Removal Operations in Philadelphia. "Our dedicated officers and partners in law enforcement have worked tirelessly to ensure such dangerous individuals are brought to justice and then removed from the United States."
Said was initially paroled into the United States by U.S. Customs and Border Protection at New York for prosecution purposes. He was later convicted by the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York on charges of international narcotics conspiracy and attempted international distribution of heroin, receiving a sentence of 131 months in prison.
ICE encountered Said at Federal Correctional Institution Loretto on August 8, 2023, where he was served with an expedited removal notice and an immigration detainer was lodged against him. Following his release from incarceration, Said was detained by ICE until his deportation proceedings were concluded.
The public is encouraged to report any crimes or suspicious activities by contacting the ICE Tip Line at 866-DHS-2-ICE (866-347-2423) or through their online tip form.
