A Vernon man has admitted to charges related to child exploitation, according to federal authorities. Daryl Todd, 44, confessed to engaging with minors through Snapchat, where he solicited and received sexually explicit content.
Investigations led by the FBI's Child Exploitation Task Force pointed to Todd's use of Snapchat as a medium to communicate with underage girls. Through these interactions, Todd managed to acquire explicit photographs and videos, often compensating the victims via Cash App. It was also found that Todd sent explicit photographs of himself to these minors.
Following his arrest on March 7, 2024, a detailed analysis of Todd's cellphone discovered explicit imagery of female minors. In a court appearance, Todd pleaded guilty to the receipt of child pornography. This charge could result in a prison sentence ranging from a minimum of five years to a maximum of 20 years. The sentencing hearing is set for July 1.
Currently, Todd has been released on a $100,000 bond as he awaits sentencing.
The investigation was conducted by the FBI’s Child Exploitation Task Force, which comprises federal, state, and local law enforcement. The prosecution is managed by Assistant U.S. Attorney Nancy V. Gifford as part of the Department of Justice’s Project Safe Childhood Initiative. This initiative focuses on safeguarding children from sexual abuse and exploitation.
