U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), alongside federal partners from the FBI and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, have apprehended a Brazilian national in Falmouth, Massachusetts. Ilma Leandro De Oliveira, 53, faces charges related to multiple sex crimes involving a minor. The arrest occurred on March 20.
Patricia H. Hyde, acting Field Office Director for ICE Enforcement and Removal Operations in Boston, stated, “Ilma Leandro De Oliveira is charged with seven different crimes regarding the sexual victimization of a child in our Massachusetts community. These are crimes we simply will not tolerate. ICE Boston will continue to prioritize the safety of our children by arresting and removing any criminal alien who poses a threat to our New England residents.”
Leandro was initially detained by U.S. Border Patrol on September 20, 2007, after unlawfully entering the United States near Laredo, Texas. At that time, she was issued a notice and order for expedited removal. Subsequently, on December 27, 2007, Enforcement and Removal Operations in San Antonio deported her to Brazil. Despite this, Leandro illegally returned to the United States at a later unknown date and location, bypassing inspection by immigration officials.
On March 18, 2025, the Falmouth District Court arraigned Leandro on charges including rape of a child, reckless endangerment of a child, indecent exposure, indecent assault and battery on a child under 14, unnatural acts with a child, aggravated statutory rape of a child, and incest. Following her arrest, ICE delivered a notice of intent to reinstate her previous removal order.
ICE Boston transferred custody of Leandro to the U.S. Marshals Service on April 8. She is anticipated to face prosecution for illegal reentry after deportation.
