U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), in conjunction with federal partners, has apprehended a Dominican national convicted of a sex crime in Massachusetts. The arrest of Moises Ricardo Peralta-Matos, aged 32, took place on February 25 in Worcester, following collaboration with the Federal Bureau of Investigations (FBI) and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF).

"Moises Ricardo Peralta-Matos victimized a member of our Massachusetts community and has subsequently been charged with further violent behavior. He clearly presents a threat to the residents here," stated ICE Enforcement and Removal Operations acting Field Office Director Patricia H. Hyde. Hyde emphasized the agency's commitment to public safety, saying, "We will not tolerate such threats to our neighborhoods. ICE Boston will continue to prioritize public safety by arresting and removing criminal alien threats from New England."

Peralta entered the United States legally on May 1, 2003, in New York City, but later violated the terms of his admission. The Worcester District Court convicted him on several charges, including a compulsory insurance violation on October 5, 2018, for which he was fined. In addition, Peralta was convicted for indecent assault and battery on a person aged 14 or over on December 16, 2024, receiving a suspended sentence of 545 days.

He was arraigned on January 13 for assault and battery on a family household member. The recent arrest led authorities to serve him with a notice to appear before a Justice Department immigration judge.
