Hayden O’Byrne United States Attorney for the Southern District of Florida | The Florida Bar

A former South Florida doctor, Daniel Alberto Carpman, age 72, was convicted of illegally dispensing and distributing opioids, specifically oxycodone, at his pain management clinic, Daniel Carpman MD Medical Center. A federal jury in Miami, Florida, found Carpman guilty of one count of conspiracy to distribute opioids and four counts of illegal distribution. Carpman faces a maximum of 20 years in prison for each count. His sentencing, overseen by United States District Court Judge Melissa Damian, is scheduled for June 22, 2025. Following the jury verdict, Carpman was taken into custody.

During the trial, evidence showed that Carpman issued unlawful prescriptions for over two million doses of maximum strength, immediate release oxycodone. These prescriptions were then resold by his patients to drug distributors.
