A man previously stationed at Fort Stewart, Georgia, has been found guilty of crimes involving child sexual abuse by a jury in the Southern District of Georgia. Cedrick Demon Robinson, 42, from Oxford, Mississippi, was convicted of aggravated sexual abuse of a child and attempted production of a visual depiction of a minor engaging in sexually explicit conduct. The trial, overseen by U.S. District Court Chief Judge R. Stan Baker, lasted two days.
Acting U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of Georgia, Tara M. Lyons, expressed the urgency of protecting children from abuse and stated, “We will continue to seek justice for those who would victimize our most vulnerable citizens.”
Testimonies during the trial revealed that Robinson sexually abused a nine-year-old child in December 2013 and later in 2017 requested a sexually explicit photo from another child aged fifteen. Robinson is currently awaiting sentencing, pending the outcome of a presentence investigation by U.S. Probation Services.
Steven Ausfeldt, Special Agent in Charge of the Department of the Army Criminal Investigation Division, Southeast Field Office, praised the investigative work, stating, "Army CID will aggressively pursue anyone who would abuse or exploit our children."
The investigation was conducted by the Department of the Army Criminal Investigation Division’s Fort Stewart Office. The case was prosecuted by Southern District of Georgia Assistant United States Attorneys Michael Z. Spitulnik and Darron J. Hubbard.
