U.S. Secretary of Education Linda McMahon visited the Sports Leadership Arts Management (SLAM) charter school in Miami, Florida, on May 2, 2025. The visit aimed to highlight the impact of educational choice on families and communities.
Accompanied by Congressman Burgess Owens, the Secretary participated in a live broadcast on Sirius XM’s “The David Webb Show.” The event, attended by an audience of parents and families affected by school choice, was followed by a tour of SLAM Miami. During this visit, a second live broadcast was made on SLAM Radio where students conducted interviews, sharing stories of how educational choice has transformed their lives.
“As we work to restore local control over education, it was great to join Congressman Burgess Owens, students, and parents to see firsthand the difference school choice makes in unlocking academic potential,” Linda McMahon stated. She emphasized the importance of providing families with the freedom to choose the best educational path for their children, citing SLAM as a model for an active learning environment with a focus on the sports industry.
