Hayden O’Byrne United States Attorney for the Southern District of Florida | The Florida Bar
The U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of Florida recently held a public outreach event in collaboration with the American Association of Retired Persons (AARP). The forum, which took place on May 15, 2025, at Century Village in Pembroke Pines, Florida, aimed to address and prevent crimes targeting senior citizens.
The event featured participation from several organizations including the FBI, U.S. Postal Inspection Service, Florida’s Office of Financial Regulation, Broward State Attorney’s Office, Wilton Manors Police Department, and AARP Florida. Discussions centered around common fraudulent schemes affecting seniors such as investment fraud and lottery scams. A panel consisting of local law enforcement provided examples of fraud and abuse cases within the community.
