House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform Chairman James Comer has announced a hearing titled “The Federal Government in the Age of Artificial Intelligence.” The session will discuss how artificial intelligence (AI) can enhance federal operations by increasing efficiency, reducing fraud, and improving services for taxpayers. The committee will also consider challenges such as outdated IT systems, limited AI knowledge among federal employees, complex procurement processes, and inadequate data management that have slowed the government's adoption of AI.

This initiative aligns with President Donald Trump's Executive Order promoting AI innovation to ensure U.S. leadership in this field globally. "The United States is the global leader in AI, but we must never take this advantage for granted," said Chairman Comer. He emphasized the importance of maintaining technological superiority and responsibly deploying AI to protect American interests.

The hearing is scheduled for Thursday, June 5, 2025, at 10:00 AM ET in HVC-210 at the U.S. Capitol Visitor Center. Witnesses include Mr. Yll Bajraktari from the Special Competitive Studies Project, Mr. Bhavin Shah from Moveworks, Ms. Linda Miller from TrackLight, and Mr. Adam Thierer from R Street Institute. The event will be available via livestream.
