Mexico resident receives three-year sentence for cocaine trafficking

A Michoacán resident has been sentenced to 36 months in federal prison for cocaine trafficking. Francisco Vazquez-Chavez, aged 38, received his sentence on May 28, 2025, from United States District Judge Robert J. Colville.

The conviction follows Vazquez-Chavez's possession of over 500 grams of cocaine with the intent to distribute. His prison term will be succeeded by four years of supervised release.

The case was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Katherine C. Jordan. Acting United States Attorney Troy Rivetti acknowledged the Drug Enforcement Administration for their role in the investigation that led to this prosecution.

This case is part of an Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Forces (OCDETF) investigation. OCDETF aims to tackle high-level drug traffickers and related criminal organizations through a collaborative effort involving multiple law enforcement agencies.
