Senator Joni Ernst names PowerTech as Small Business of the Week

U.S. Senator Joni Ernst, Chair of the Senate Small Business Committee, has announced PowerTech as her Small Business of the Week for Pottawattamie County. Ernst's initiative aims to recognize a small business in each of Iowa's 99 counties throughout the 119th Congress.

Ernst praised PowerTech founders Josh Kallsen and Cody Forristall, saying, "Josh and Cody have generated a company that delivers not just expertise, but heart." She highlighted the company's contributions to emergency response and community outreach, noting their reputation for reliable electrical services among commercial, industrial, and residential clients in Iowa. "Operating out of multiple state-of-the-art facilities, they’ve become a current leader in the Council Bluffs community," she added.

PowerTech was acquired by Kallsen and Forristall in 2016. Since then, it has grown into a prominent electrical service provider in the Midwest. The company is headquartered in Council Bluffs and offers round-the-clock facility maintenance, generator services, emergency response, and comprehensive electrical solutions across various sectors.

In addition to its business operations, PowerTech launched a philanthropic initiative called Power to Give in 2020. This program supports employee volunteerism with local nonprofits focused on children and mental health causes. Furthermore, through their PowerTech Cares Program, they donate electrical services monthly to families in need.

Ernst plans to continue recognizing small businesses across Iowa with her Small Business of the Week award.
