Juwon Markel Anderson, a 22-year-old resident of the District of Columbia, received an 84-month federal prison sentence for his involvement in the December 2023 burglary of a Maryland pawn shop. The incident resulted in the theft of dozens of firearms and Anderson's subsequent attempt to sell some of these stolen guns.

The announcement was made by U.S. Attorney Jeanine Ferris Pirro, alongside Special Agent in Charge Anthony Spotswood from the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives (ATF) Washington Field Division, and Chief Pamela A. Smith from the Metropolitan Police Department.

Anderson, also known as “Peezy,” admitted guilt on March 4, 2025, to one count of conspiracy to commit firearms trafficking. U.S. District Judge Amy Berman Jackson imposed an additional three years of supervised release following his prison term.

Court documents reveal that on December 13, 2023, Anderson and at least four accomplices traveled from the District to A&D Pawn Shop in Glen Burnie, Maryland. The group used tools such as a portable saw and a crowbar-type tool to break into the Federal Firearms Licensee premises. They stole at least 34 guns comprising rifles, shotguns, and pistols before fleeing. Anderson was apprehended with two stolen firearms two days after the heist on December 15, 2023.

Tyjuan McNeal, aged 27 and a co-defendant in this case, is set for sentencing on July 1 for conspiracy to commit firearms trafficking. Meanwhile, Vincent Lee Alston (23), known as “Vedo,” pleaded guilty on March 6, 2025; Cy'juan Hemsley admitted guilt on May 7; and Niquan Odum (23), also known as “Stickz,” pleaded guilty to conspiracy charges related to theft from a firearms licensee and possession of stolen firearms.

The ATF Washington Field Division collaborated with the Metropolitan Police Department on this investigation with support from the ATF Baltimore Field Division. Assistant U.S. Attorney Shehzad Akhtar is leading the prosecution with contributions from former Special Assistant U.S. Attorney Ryan Lipes.
