Senate HELP Committee advances eight Trump education and labor nominees

Today, the Senate Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions (HELP) Committee voted to advance eight nominees from President Trump's administration. These nominees are for positions within the Department of Education, the Department of Labor, and the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission. Under the leadership of HELP Chair Bill Cassidy, M.D. (R-LA), the committee has now advanced a total of 21 Trump administration nominees.

“These nominees are crucial to enacting President Trump’s pro-America agenda,” said Dr. Cassidy. “I appreciate my colleagues’ commitment to getting President Trump’s team in place.”

The committee approved Jeremiah Workman for Assistant Secretary of Labor for Veterans’ Employment and Training with a vote of 13-10. Daniel Aronowitz was approved for Assistant Secretary of Labor for Employee Benefits Security Administration by a vote of 14-9.

The remaining nominees were advanced en bloc by a party-line vote of 12-11. All nominations will proceed to the Senate floor for a final vote at a later date.

The approved nominations include:

- Penny Schwinn as Deputy Secretary of Education

- Kimberly Richey as Assistant Secretary for Civil Rights

- Daniel Aronowitz as Assistant Secretary of Labor for Employee Benefits Security Administration

- David Keeling as Assistant Secretary of Labor for Occupational Safety and Health Administration

- Jonathan Berry as Solicitor

- Andrew Rogers as Administrator of the Wage and Hour Division

- Andrea Lucas as a Member of the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission

- Jeremiah Workman as Assistant Secretary of Labor for Veterans’ Employment and Training
