Throughout the current Congress, Senator Joni Ernst aims to highlight a small business in each of Iowa's 99 counties.
Senator Joni Ernst (R-Iowa), who chairs the Senate Small Business Committee, has announced Edd the Florist of Wapello County as her Small Business of the Week. The recognition is part of her initiative during the 119th Congress.
"Since the Wilz family purchased it in 1956, Edd the Florist has blossomed into a scent-sational institution in Ottumwa," said Chair Ernst. "Hans Wilz has stayed rooted to his parents’ dreams, while expanding to provide gifts and gourmet foods for the community. Serving the community for nearly 70 years, this small business is blooming with success."
Hans Wilz, as the second-generation owner, continues to uphold family and entrepreneurial values at Edd the Florist. His parents, Margaret and Karl Wilz, bought the shop after emigrating from Germany to pursue their American Dream. As they approach their 70th anniversary, Hans maintains their legacy by offering quality products.
Chair Ernst will continue recognizing other small businesses across Iowa with her Small Business of the Week award.
