U.S. Senator Bill Cassidy, M.D. (R-LA), chair of the Senate Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions (HELP) Committee, addressed a hearing concerning three nominees from the Trump administration. The nominations discussed were for positions at the National Labor Relations Board, the Department of Health and Human Services, and the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission.
The nominees include Crystal Carey for General Counsel of the National Labor Relations Board, Brian Christine for Assistant Secretary for Health at the Department of Health and Human Services, and Brittany Panuccio as a member of the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission.
In his prepared remarks, Cassidy expressed gratitude to the nominees for their willingness to serve. He highlighted Carey's commitment to addressing case backlogs at NLRB and her qualifications based on her experience within the organization. For Panuccio's nomination to EEOC, Cassidy emphasized her prosecutorial background as beneficial for enforcement efforts. Dr. Christine's potential role in modernizing HHS was also noted by Cassidy.
Senator Bernie Sanders was acknowledged following Cassidy's speech.
