On July 10, special agents from the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) arrested Lizamarie Rivera-García in Bayamón, Puerto Rico. The 42-year-old woman is charged with child sex trafficking.
Rebecca C. Gonzalez-Ramos, HSI San Juan Special Agent in Charge, stated, “We cannot let our guard down! Our children are being sexually exploited by individuals in positions of public trust. Law enforcement agencies are committed to being the voice of these victims.” She emphasized that HSI and the Puerto Rico Police Bureau are dedicated to protecting children and ensuring those responsible for such crimes are brought to justice.
Court documents reveal that between December 2023 and October 2024, Rivera-García allegedly recruited, enticed, transported, and maintained a 15-year-old boy for commercial sex acts. She is also accused of using internet services to transfer obscene material to a minor under 16 years old.
Additionally, from December 2023 to November 2024, Rivera-García reportedly engaged a 17-year-old boy in similar activities.
If convicted on the charges of sex trafficking of a child, transportation of a minor for criminal sexual activity, and coercion and enticement of a minor, Rivera-García faces mandatory minimum imprisonment terms ranging from 10 to 15 years up to life in prison. Convictions will be followed by supervised release lasting at least five years.
The sentencing will be determined by a federal district court judge who will consider U.S. sentencing guidelines among other factors.
