U.S. Senator Jerry Moran, chairman of the Senate Committee on Veterans’ Affairs, presided over a committee hearing to review the nomination of Karen Brazell for the position of Under Secretary for Benefits at the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA).
During the hearing, Sen. Moran highlighted the importance of prompt benefit delivery for veterans and their families. He stated, “The timely delivery of benefits is crucial to supporting veterans and their loved ones after their service.” He explained that the Veterans Benefits Administration manages a range of services including disability and pension benefits, education benefits, home loan benefits, transition support from military to civilian life, survivors benefits, and other resources.
Sen. Moran also addressed the responsibilities associated with the role under consideration: “The responsibility of VA’s Under Secretary for Benefits is to make certain veterans and their families receive quality benefits in a timely manner,” he said. “I am grateful to have an experienced and dedicated public servant, Karen Brazell, before us today as our nominee for this important position.”
