Senate confirms 15 Trump nominees advanced by HELP Committee under Cassidy

U.S. Senator Bill Cassidy, chair of the Senate Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions (HELP) Committee, issued a statement following the U.S. Senate’s confirmation of 107 nominees from President Trump’s administration this week. Of those confirmed, 15 were advanced by the HELP Committee. Since taking on the chairmanship, Cassidy has overseen committee votes to advance 28 of the president’s nominees, with 24 now confirmed by the full Senate.

“As HELP Chairman, I’m focused on putting President Trump’s team in place as quickly as possible. These nominees are crucial to advancing Republicans’ pro-worker, pro-family, pro-patient agenda,” said Dr. Cassidy. “While Democrats continue to hold the government hostage, Senate Republicans are working to deliver results for the American people.”

The Senate confirmed the nominees in a party-line vote of 51-47. The HELP Committee is scheduled to review five more of President Trump’s nominees tomorrow.

The confirmed nominees include Kirsten Baesler as Assistant Secretary for Elementary and Secondary Education, Wayne Palmer as Assistant Secretary of Labor for Mine Safety and Health, Julie Hocker as Assistant Secretary of Labor, Marco Rajkovich, Jr. as a Member of the Federal Mine Safety and Health Review Commission, Janet Dhillon as Director of the Pension Benefit Guaranty Corporation, David Keeling as Assistant Secretary of Labor, Kimberly Richey as Assistant Secretary for Civil Rights at the Department of Education, Jonathan Berry as Solicitor for the Department of Labor, Andrew Rogers as Administrator of the Wage and Hour Division at the Department of Labor, Mary Christina Riley as Assistant Secretary for Legislation and Congressional Affairs at the Department of Education, Brian Christine as Assistant Secretary of Health and Human Services, Jonathan Snare as a Member of the Occupational Safety and Health Review Commission, David Brian Castillo as Chief Financial Officer at the Department of Labor, David Barker as Assistant Secretary for Postsecondary Education at the Department of Education, and Brittany Panuccio as a Member of the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission.
