The Subcommittee on Economic Development, Public Buildings, and Emergency Management will hold a hearing focused on consolidating federal real estate holdings. Chairman Scott Perry (R-PA) announced that the session will examine ways to transform federal real estate by consolidating, relocating, and selling unused or underutilized spaces. The hearing follows up on efforts discussed in March 2025 regarding the implementation of public buildings reforms enacted during the previous Congress.
The committee aims to reduce the size of the federal real estate portfolio and generate savings for taxpayers. The hearing is scheduled for Thursday, December 11, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. ET in room 2167 of the Rayburn House Office Building.
Witnesses include Andrew Heller, Acting Public Buildings Service Commissioner from the General Services Administration; David Marroni, Director of Physical Infrastructure at the Government Accountability Office; and Michael E. Capuano from the Public Buildings Reform Board.
