A Waimanalo man has been arrested and charged with producing child pornography, according to an announcement from United States Attorney Ken Sorenson. Elias David, 37, was taken into custody on December 3, 2025.

Court documents state that David began a sexual relationship with a minor female he coached in volleyball starting around February 2023. Investigators found videos on the minor's phone showing both the minor and David engaged in sexual acts. The videos reportedly show David holding or positioning the phone immediately before or after the sexual conduct.

If convicted, David faces a mandatory minimum sentence of 15 years in prison and could receive up to 30 years. He may also be subject to fines and supervision following his release.

Authorities emphasized that the charge is an accusation and that David is presumed innocent unless proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in court. Any sentencing would be determined by a United States District Judge using statutory factors and federal sentencing guidelines.

The Federal Bureau of Investigation is leading the investigation with help from the Honolulu Police Department. Assistant U.S. Attorney Michael F. Albanese is prosecuting the case.
