Senate HELP Committee schedules hearing on risks associated with abortion drugs

The Senate Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions (HELP) Committee is scheduled to hold a hearing on January 14 to address concerns about the safety of chemical abortion drugs. The hearing, titled "Protecting Women: Exposing the Dangers of Chemical Abortion Drugs," will take place at 10:00 AM ET in the 430 Dirksen Senate Office Building.

Dr. Bill Cassidy, who serves as Chairman of the HELP Committee, commented on the upcoming session. "As a doctor and a strong pro-life conservative, I am committed to protecting mothers and the unborn. The medical evidence is clear: chemical abortion drugs not only kill innocent babies, but also put women in serious danger,” said Dr. Cassidy. “As Chairman of the HELP Committee, I look forward to discussing how to uphold a culture of life and prioritize women‘s safety over political ideology.”

The HELP Committee plays an important role in shaping federal policy related to public health, education, workforce development, and labor protections. It oversees agencies such as the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and National Institutes of Health (NIH), ensuring effective oversight through its subcommittees. More information about its responsibilities can be found on its official website.

The committee is also responsible for legislating on issues affecting health and worker rights across the United States. Its work influences federal regulations in these sectors and provides oversight of relevant laws and agencies.

Members of the press planning to attend the hearing are asked to RSVP through their respective press galleries. The event will also be available for live viewing online.
