Ahmed Alaahri sentenced to 11 years for kidnapping and sexual abuse of minor

Earlier today in Brooklyn federal court, Ahmed Alaahri was sentenced to 11 years in prison for kidnapping and sexually abusing a 17-year-old victim, identified as John Doe. United States District Judge Eric Komitee handed down the sentence. In March 2023, Alaahri, along with co-defendant Bilal Nagi and another co-conspirator (CC-1), lured John Doe into their car where they filmed themselves restraining and assaulting him after removing his clothing. Both Alaahri and Nagi pleaded guilty to kidnapping in February 2025. Nagi was previously sentenced to 17 and a half years in prison in August 2025. Both men are citizens of Yemen and face deportation following their sentences.

The sentencing was announced by Joseph Nocella, Jr., United States Attorney for the Eastern District of New York; Terence G. Reilly, Acting Assistant Director in Charge at the FBI’s New York Field Office; and Jessica S. Tisch, Commissioner of the New York City Police Department.

“The defendants’ lengthy prison sentences are well-deserved given their depraved and violent conduct,” stated United States Attorney Nocella. “The sentences also make clear that crimes which brutalize, degrade, and exploit others, especially minors, will not be tolerated.”

“Ahmed Alaahri and Bilal Nagi kidnapped and sexually abused a minor victim in the backseat of their car using a weapon and threats to induce compliance. These defendants exploited a teenager’s terror by disseminating the recorded attack for further victimization and humiliation. May today’s sentencing serve as a reminder of the FBI’s promise to leverage its law enforcement partnerships against any individuals targeting minors,” stated FBI Acting Assistant Director in Charge Reilly.

According to court records, on March 11, 2023, Alaahri, Nagi, and CC-1 kidnapped John Doe after arranging to pick him up from his home in Brooklyn. When John Doe entered the vehicle—Nagi driving with Alaahri as front passenger—Alaahri and CC-1 began punching him while driving toward Floyd Bennett Field on federal park land in southeast Brooklyn.

At Floyd Bennett Field, they continued to assault John Doe before removing his pants while Nagi recorded video footage on his cellphone. During this time Alaahri restrained John Doe while holding a knife near him; Nagi threatened him by saying “you’re going to let me do whatever I want, or we’ll kill you.” The victim was also told there was a gun present before being released without his cellphone or money.

John Doe immediately called 911 after returning home; NYPD officers responded promptly to begin an investigation.

Afterward, part of the video showing John Doe being restrained with exposed genitals was shared online via Instagram by Nagi. Law enforcement discovered portions of this video during an unrelated arrest for gunpoint robbery involving both defendants in the Bronx; text messages revealed planning between Nagi and CC-1 regarding the kidnapping.

The case is being prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Gilbert Rein from the General Crimes as well as National Security and Cybercrime Sections within the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of New York—a federal prosecutor's office covering Brooklyn, Queens, Staten Island, Nassau County, and Suffolk County that handles prosecutions of federal crimes such as this one (official website). The office also supports victims through outreach programs (official website).
