Transportation and Infrastructure Committee Chairman Sam Graves (R-MO), Ranking Member Rick Larsen (D-WA), Aviation Subcommittee Chairman Troy E. Nehls (R-TX), and Ranking Member André Carson (D-IN) have issued a joint statement following the National Transportation Safety Board’s recent meeting on the January 29, 2025, midair collision at Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport. The incident involved American Airlines Flight 5342 and a UH-60 Army Black Hawk helicopter.
In their statement, the committee leaders said: “As we approach the anniversary of the tragic DCA mid-air collision, our thoughts and condolences remain with the families of the victims. We greatly appreciate the work of the NTSB, and now that they have met to finalize their findings and recommendations, we will review those along with the agency’s final report as we work to address the issues raised and determine the Committee's next oversight and legislative steps. We remain committed to protecting travelers and making the U.S. airspace as safe as possible.”
The committee plans to examine both the findings from this latest NTSB meeting and its final report before deciding on any further action or potential legislative measures.
