House Committee on Agriculture Chairman Glenn “GT” Thompson has released a document detailing the party breakdown of legislation included in H.R. 7567, the Farm, Food, and National Security Act of 2026. The release comes ahead of the committee's full markup session scheduled for March 3.
According to Thompson, out of the 181 bills that influenced H.R. 7567, 82% had bipartisan cosponsors. The bill also includes provisions from 14 Democrat-only bills and 18 Republican-only bills. This count does not cover additional provisions that originated from bipartisan member priorities without a formal marker bill.
“I always like to say that a good farm bill process is ‘tri-partisan’ because it’s a collaboration between Republicans, Democrats, and stakeholders,” Chairman Thompson said. “The Farm, Food, and National Security Act of 2026 reflects this principle from start to finish and across all 12 titles. The numbers don’t lie — this is a bipartisan farm bill, and calling it anything else is a serious mischaracterization of the facts. I look forward to deliberating on this bill next week with my colleagues on both sides of the aisle as we work to move American agriculture forward.”
The analysis includes both full bills and specific provisions incorporated into H.R. 7567.
The House Committee on Agriculture is among the oldest standing committees in Congress and manages oversight of agricultural production, marketing, forestry, nutrition, rural development, and crop insurance according to its official website. It also oversees agencies such as the U.S. Department of Agriculture and develops legislation related to conservation programs and food safety initiatives.
Chairman Glenn Thompson currently leads the committee according to official information, which continues its longstanding role in addressing agricultural matters across the United States.
The committee will begin marking up H.R. 7567 on Tuesday at 5 p.m. ET. The session can be watched live online; more details are available on the committee's website along with summaries and one-pagers for each title in the proposed legislation.
