Oklahoma City couple receives combined sixteen-year sentence for firearms and drug offenses

Robert J. "Bob" Troester U.S. Attorney | U.S. Attorney for the Western District of Oklahoma

Michael Dennis Miller, 46, and Sarah Jo Miller, 34, both of Oklahoma City, have been sentenced to a total of 16 years in federal prison after being stopped by police and found with firearms and drugs. The announcement was made by U.S. Attorney Robert J. Troester.

On September 23, 2024, an officer from the Union City Police Department stopped a vehicle driven by Sarah Miller with Michael Miller as the passenger. Neither occupant had a valid driver’s license, leading to the impoundment of their vehicle. During an inventory search, law enforcement officers discovered 28 firearms along with about 87 grams of fentanyl and 41 grams of methamphetamine.

Public records indicate that both individuals have previous convictions in Oklahoma County District Court. Sarah Miller has been convicted for unauthorized use of a vehicle and possession of a controlled dangerous substance (case number CF-2020-1871), as well as for unlawful possession of methamphetamine with intent to distribute, acquiring proceeds from drug activity, larceny of merchandise from a retailer, and unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia (case number CF-2023-1042). Michael Miller’s prior convictions include endangering others while eluding or attempting to elude a police officer (case number CF-2021-3), conspiracy to conceal stolen property, second-degree burglary, concealing stolen property, larceny of an automobile, and unauthorized use of a motor vehicle (case number CF-2019-4332).

Both defendants pleaded guilty to charges related to drug conspiracy and being felons in possession of firearms.

At sentencing hearings earlier this year, Chief U.S. District Judge Timothy D. DeGiusti sentenced Michael Miller to 84 months in federal prison followed by three years supervised release on February 20, 2026. Sarah Miller was sentenced on January 28, 2026 to serve 108 months in federal prison followed by three years supervised release. Judge DeGiusti commented: "In announcing his sentences, Judge DeGiusti noted the seriousness of the offenses and the criminal histories of the defendants."

The case was investigated by Homeland Security Investigations together with the Union City Police Department. Assistant U.S. Attorney Stephen Hoch prosecuted the case.
