The Aerospace Industries Association (AIA) has issued a statement following a meeting between President Trump and leaders from major U.S. defense companies.

According to an AIA spokesperson, “America’s defense industry is delivering what the government has asked of it: unmatched capability, the best equipment in the world, and systems performing as intended. U.S.-made missiles and munitions are proving decisive because they are produced by an industrial base that leads the world in innovation, quality, and reliability. We are the warfighter’s greatest advantage.”

The spokesperson also addressed the structure of the defense industrial base: “At the same time, the defense industrial base has long been structured around demand signals focused on deterrence and peace — not sustained, high‑volume wartime production. This Administration’s efforts to grow the defense budget, expand multiyear procurement, and increase order volume are critical to providing the predictability industry needs to surge production, hire and train skilled workers, and strengthen supply chains.”

“Industry is doing its part — investing its own capital, growing its workforce, and expanding capacity. A strong and responsive defense industrial base is a shared responsibility. When government and industry move together with purpose and predictability, the results speak for themselves,” according to AIA.

The AIA plays a significant role in shaping U.S. policy related to national security, aviation safety, space innovation, and workforce development (official website). The association also supports diversity initiatives aimed at improving representation within aerospace industries (official website). In addition to advocacy for policies that promote national security and economic growth (official website), AIA provides networking opportunities through councils and committees as well as access to over 1,400 industry standards (official website).

Since 2010, AIA has led efforts in promoting international business ethics through leadership of the International Forum on Business Ethical Conduct (official website). The organization continues supporting manufacturers and suppliers within both aerospace and defense sectors (official website).
