The Transportation and Infrastructure Committee Chairman Sam Graves announced that the full Committee will hold a markup at 10:00 a.m. ET on Thursday, March 26, in the Rayburn House Office Building. The Committee is set to review an updated version of the Airspace Location and Enhanced Risk Transparency (ALERT) Act of 2026.

The proposed legislation comes in response to various aviation safety issues raised by the National Transportation Safety Board following a tragic midair collision in 2025 between American Airlines Flight 5342 and a UH-60 Army Black Hawk helicopter at Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport.

According to Graves, the bill aims to provide "a thorough and comprehensive legislative solution to address critical aviation safety issues raised by the NTSB following the DCA accident." The markup will include consideration of an amendment in the nature of a substitute (ANS) to H.R. 7613, known as the ALERT Act of 2026.

Further details about the markup session, including access to full legislative text and a live webcast link, are expected to be made available ahead of time. Additional information regarding the ALERT Act can also be found through official committee resources.

Observers say this legislative effort reflects ongoing concerns about airspace safety following high-profile incidents. The outcome of this markup could shape future policy directions for improving risk transparency and coordination within U.S. airspace.
