'Building a better America': Bipartisan Infrastructure Law to aid airport infrastructure across the country

The Federal Aviation Administration has reported that the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law will fund $15 billion for airport-related projects throughout the country.

U.S. Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg said the measure is a lifetime opportunity to help rehab infrastructure that is critical to travel in the country.

“The Bipartisan Infrastructure Law has given us a once-in-a-generation opportunity to build safer and more sustainable airports that connect individuals to jobs and communities to the world,” Buttigieg said. “With this new funding, urban, regional and rural airports across the country now can get to work on projects that have waited for years, modernizing their infrastructure and building a better America.”

According to a news release, $2.89 billion in grants will be distributed to airports and a map on the DOT website displays where that money will be spent for the fiscal year 2022.

The states of California, Texas and Florida are each receiving over $200 million, according to a news release.

Small businesses interested in learning about the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law and projected areas of contract opportunities can do so by attending a virtual event that will feature speakers from the FAA Facilities and Engineering Services Office and Acquisition and Business Services on Jan. 31.
